Rome (day 2)

The Pantheon.  The building to all of the gods of the Roman people was originally built by Marcus Agrippa circa 27 B.C.  It was damaged or destroyed in the 1st century A.D. and rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian between 118 - 126 A.D.  The architect is unknown, but some attribute it to Apollodorus of Damascus who completed several projects for Hadrian.  The building was saved by being made into a church in the 7th century A.D. (therefore escaping the fate of being ripped apart for building materials).
