At last, my own wall! |
Rina and I soon got the hang of it, and quickly the wall began to succumb. We were joined by Dorita (green pants), a London teacher on holiday. |
The wall began to slowly disappear. The routine of excavating, planning, "trigging" when necessary, sifting for finds, and rock numbering and removal soon became second nature. |
On the few days that we had bad weather, or if you just wanted a break, you could clean and sort finds. Please note the hot water dispenser for tea. Typhoo anyone? Ossie (in black) came from Turkey as part of his university studies. |
The platform is provided for visitor viewing of the excavation. The small brick building, once a primary school, is now the headquarters. Rina is seated at center. Dorita is kneeling at the 9 o'clock position reviewing plans before they complete demolition of the 3rd century wall. I had been moved to the "rubbish" area by this time. |
